Japanese bike maker Suzuki has launched a new entry-level cruiser in the country - the Intruder 150. The new cruiser is a derivative Suzuki's popular Gixxer 150 motorcycle and incorporates a few bits from the street naked. Suzuki Motor has a new challenger in the form of the Intruder. Not to be mistaken with the Intruder M1800, which is a 1,800 cc behemoth, this one is a 155 cc model.

The Intruder is feature-rich, with a digital instrument console, an LED tail-light, a flush-fitting fuel tank cap and also ABS, none of which are on offer on the Bajaj Avenger Street 150 it competes with in terms of engine capacity. These features are also absent on the Avenger Street/Cruise 220, though it must be noted that the Intruder is priced at Rs 98,340 (ex-showroom, Delhi), which is substantially higher than its rivals from Bajaj.

The Intruder 150 is powered by the same 155cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that already propels the Gixxer series. The carbureted motor comes mated to a five-speed gearbox and churns out 14.8PS at 8,000rpm, and a peak torque of 14Nm at 6,000rpm

While there’s no reason to doubt a comfortable highway performance, its 11-litre fuel tank will translate to a shorter range as compared to the Avenger, which has a 14-litre tank. The Intruder is targeted at those seeking a stylish, relaxed weekend motorcycle that can also double up as a commuter and its 740mm seat height and 148kg kerb weight will definitely contribute to its intent.

Overall, The bike looks promising and caters a very niche segment with just one direct competitor in the market. However, it can also affect the sales of the other premium commuters falling in the similar price bracket.
