Indian cricketers have seemingly reached South Africa to beat the hosts in their own country. While the men in blue are already leading the ongoing 6-match One Day International series 2-0, women players are not far behind.

In a stellar series-opener, Indian women knocked the Proteas by 88 runs on Monday. The three-match ODI series gives both the participating teams a chance to directly qualify for the 2021 ICC Women's World Cup.

Winning the opening match was a huge challenge for the Mithali Raj-led women's cricket team as they have failed to participate in any fixture post their magnificent performance in the World Cup due to BCCI's poor planning.

Post winning the toss, India elected to bat and posted an inspiring score of 213 runs for seven wickets on board. The undeniable contribution by left-handed batswoman Smriti Mandhana's (84) and skipper Mithali Raj (45) helped the visitors to outclass the hosts.

In the second innings, Indian pacers excelled in their feat and bundled out South Africa for 125 in 43.2 overs. The star pacer Jhulan Goswami took four wickets whereas Shikha Pandey also three batsmen with ease.

South African captain Dane van Niekerk's 41 weren't able to help their team either. Their lack of practice was evident in their performance which gives India an upper-hand over the hosts for winning the series. The two teams will lock horns again for 2nd ODI on Wednesday.
