Legendary actor Shashi Kapoor breathed his last at the age of 79 in Mumbai's Kokilaben Ambani Hospital. The actor was admitted on Sunday due to prolonged health issues and was unable to make it.

Following the actor's demise, the entire Hindi film fraternity was engulfed in the blanket of sorrow. While many mourned over the loss through their tweets, his 'babbua' aka Amitabh Bachchan had another idea to pay tribute to his idol.

The megastar penned a lengthy tribute to his good old friend while remembering their journey together to fame. From their first meeting to their "very intimate association" and "collective professional camaraderie".

Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor starred in over 11 films together and shared a great rapport with each other. Big B admitted of not visiting the late actor during his last moments as it would have been unbearable for him to watch his friend on dead bed.

Reminiscing his first impression of Shashi Kapoor, Amitabh portrayed a beguiling image along the lines, "that devastating smile complimenting the twinkle in his eyes. He needn't have done so. Everyone knew him. But this was his infectious humble self."

Before entering Bollywood, Amitabh Bachchan was scared of Kapoor's look and calming attitude. After watching him in a magazine before Shashi's Bollywood debut, the only thing Senior Bachchan could think was, "With men like him around, I stood no chance."

Their most acclaimed film together 'Deewar', 'Namak Halal' and 'Kabhi Kabhie' still leave the viewers amazed and fascinated by their heart-warming acting skills. Amitabh admitted that Shashi was left shattered after the death of his wife Jennifer Kendal.

Concluding the tribute on an emotional note, the actor wrote, "He fondly addressed me as 'babbua' .. and with him have gone many incredible unread chapters of his and my life." Even the heavens seemed to bid the legend a teary goodbye when Amitabh reached for his cremation ceremony.
