Padmavati Effect: Deepika Padukone Hints At Taking Break From Historical Dramas

Amidst the blistering protests against Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus 'Padmavati', the makers decided to postpone the film's release until the matter has cooled off. Despite the life-threatening statements, Deepika Padukone who plays the titular role in the film has remained confident and has refused to back off from the director's support.

In her earlier interviews, the actress has expressed her belief in the film while stating that no one can stop the film's release. However, the voluntary decision made by the makers of delaying the film has been supported by the actress, keeping the everyday worsening situations in mind. In a recent interview, the actress has once again showcased her trust in Padmavati.

Although, the talented actress has also hinted of refraining from working on Period films. After doing a number of films on the similar lines, Deepika is willing to take a break and focus on the more modern films. Padukone pointed that she is not in the right "frame of mind" currently and might not work in historical dramas in near future.

However, the actress is pretty excited about the release of Padmavati and can't wait to showcase the team's "love, passion and enthusiasm" to the audience. Deepika is confident that the viewers will love the film and despite the whole controversy, the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial will become something "really special" in future.

The entire film industry was shocked and scared, by the way, entire 'Padmavati' controversy has unfolded. Many Bollywood celebrities including Shabana Azmi, Hansal Mehta, Sonam Kapoor, Farhan Akhtar and Twinkle Khanna have voiced their opinions while backing the film but Bollywood's 'Queen' Kangana Ranaut has refused to extend her support.

Reportedly, while the veteran actress Shabana Azmi called for the Hindi fraternity to unite and fight against the injustice hurled at 'Padmavati' and Deepika Padukone, many actors signed the petition to support the 'Deepika Bachao' campaign but Kangana refused straightforwardly without justifying her refusal.

Deepika Padukone was recently seen in Filmfare Glamour and Style Awards 2017 on Friday which was organised at a suburban hotel in Mumbai. The actress was honoured by the Most Glamorous Star (female) at the night by none other than timeless beauty, Rekha who welcomed her on stage in a unique manner.

'Padmavati' stars Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in the lead roles. The story revolves around the queen Padmini of Chittore, her husband Rawal Ratan Singh and the adversities they face while fighting the tyrant ruler Alauddin Khilji. The new release date is yet to be unveiled by the filmmakers.
