Rekha won many hearts for playing the chirpy and bubbly in the Hrishikesh Mukherjee film along with her first ever best actress Filmfare Award. Rekha's Manju Dayal was a free-spirited girl who never believed in obeying the rules. The film beautifully captures her journey of teaching her sister's in-laws, a less strict way of living.

Silsila (1981)

The Yash Chopra's love triangle was the most sensational film of Rekha's career which is speculated to have imitated her personal life. The film also featured Amitabh Bachchan, Rekha's alleged beau at that time and his real-life wife, Jaya Bachchan. Rekha portrayed the role of the 'other woman' in a married couple's relationship.

Umrao Jaan (1981)

The titular role of courtesan poetess in the Muzaffar Ali directorial once again won Rekha the Filmfare Award. The path-breaking performance gained her much appreciation by both the critics and the audience. The brilliant Urdu uttered by the actress in the film left her fans stunned and proud.

Khoon Bhari Maang (1988)

The revenge drama brought forth an all-together different side of the versatile actress. This Rakesh Roshan directorial portrayed Rekha as an innocent housewife whose transformation to a woman seeking revenge was phenomenal. Rekha was honoured with the best actress Filmfare award for her glorifying performance.

Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi (1966)

In the entire Khiladi series of Akshay Kumar, one film that can never be forgotten is this Umesh Mehra directorial where Rekha nailed a role of the dangerous underworld don, Madam Maya. The highest-grosser of the year earned the actress not just critical appreciation but many awards as well, one of them being the Star Screen Award for Best Villain.
