Hollywood's movie mogul, Harvey Weinstein was recently alleged of sexual harassment by the actress Rose McGowan. Following her accusation, many old cases filed by popular actresses including Angelina Jolie and Heather Graham surfaced proving that the producer has indeed tried to sexually exploit many actresses.

In wake of the raised voices against Weinstein, Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Board has revoked his membership after discussing the matter in an emergency session. The academy, considered as the world’s top movie organization has expelled the producer from further contributions.

Harvey has denied all the accusations of sexual harassment and rape but the academy felt that the issue at hand "is a deeply troubling problem that has no place in our society." The decision was made by the majority of two-thirds votes given by the board of 54 members.

While publicising the decision, the academy stated, "We do so not simply to separate ourselves from someone who does not merit the respect of his colleagues but also to send a message that the era of willful ignorance and shameful complicity in sexually predatory behaviour and workplace harassment in our industry is over."

After the scandal broke out a week ago, Harvey was removed from his production company called The Weinstein Co. which he co-founded with his brother Bob. The latter has talked openly about his "sick and depraved" brother without any predicaments and asked for him to receive justice by getting kicked out of the Academy.

British actress Lysette Anthony has claimed that Weinstein has raped her in the late 1980s. As per the report submitted to the Police, Harvey showed up at her London residence one day uninvited and sexually exploited her, leaving the actress "disgusted and embarrassed". The producer was also kicked out of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts on Wednesday.
