Queen Kangana Ranaut was sidelined by the entire Bollywood during her fight with Hrithik Roshan. Her suggestive comments in an interview during the promotion of her last release 'Simran' landed the actress in hate list of many influential celebrities who refused to back her "Unsubstantiated" accusations.

As expected, the controversy has faded away with passing time. The current hot topic of tinsel town is 'Padmavati' and the life-threating statements hurled at the leading lady Deepika Padukone and celebrated director Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Worried about the safety of Deepika, Veteran actress Shabana Azmi called for the entire Hindi film fraternity to unite.

Azmi wrote a petition seeking Deepika's safety from fringe groups which was signed by the entire Hindi film fraternity, almost. Earlier reports suggested that the 'Rangoon' actress has refused to sign the petition. Sources suggested that her row with Hrithik where everyone turned heads from her was the reason for her denial.

However, the actress has clarified has stood in a recent conversation with Bollywoodlife and narrated the entire incident. She started, "I was filming Manikarnika in Jodhpur when I got a call from dear friend Anushka Sharma to sign the petition written by Ms Shabana Azmi."

Despite her support for Deepika and the period drama, Kangana didn't sign the petition as the initiative was led by the veteran actress who once "character assassinated" her. "I explained to her that Deepika Padukone has all my support but I am a bit wary of Shabana Azmi’s investment in left-wing Vs right-wing politics," she added.

Ranaut further said, "I have my own set of ideas and opinions about the current situation in our country. I am on the fence about many things and being a part of a feminist movement called ‘Deepika bachao’ led by someone who character assassinated me when I was bullied by influential men, seems to be one of them."

Kangana was glad that Anushka approached her and supports Deepika in the controversy. She concluded, "I am an individual perfectly capable of supporting who I like without anyone’s support." The actress is currently shooting for her own period drama called 'Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi'.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali magnum opus 'Padmavati' stars Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in the lead roles. The story revolves around the queen Padmini of Chittore, her husband Rawal Ratan Singh and the adversities they face while fighting the tyrant ruler Alauddin Khilji.
