Sufi Singer Pyarelal Wadali Of Wadali Brothers Passes Away At Age 75

Legendary Sufi singer Pyarelal Wadali passed away in Amritsar on Friday morning after suffering from a cardiac arrest. The noted singer was 75. One of the singers of Wadali Brothers duo, he breathed his last at Fortis Escorts Hospital in Amritsar where he was admitted on Thursday.

Pyarelal was the younger brother of Ustad Puran Chand Wadali, who devoted his entire life to Sufi singing and in teaching music to his disciples.

The Wadali Brothers, adept in various styles of singing including Gurbani, Ghazals, Kafi and Bhajan, and had their first musical performance outside their village in Harballabh Temple in Jalandhar in 1975.

They entered Bollywood in 2003 and are famous for their songs such as Aye Rangrez Mere ('Tanu Weds Manu') and Ik Tu Hi Tu Hi ('Mausam').

As news of his demise broke, condolences poured in from all quarters.
