Congress President Rahul Gandhi once again slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this time alleging that the PM does not pay adequate respect to his gurus. In a tweet on Tuesday night, Gandhi went so far as to say that PM Modi has humiliated senior BJP leaders Atal Bihari Vajpayee, L K Advani and Jaswant Singh.

"Ekalavya cut off his right thumb because his Guru demanded it. In the BJP, they cut down their own Gurus. Humiliating Vajpayeeji, Advaniji, Jaswant Singhji and their families is the Prime Minister’s way of protecting Indian culture," tweeted Rahul Gandhi.

Along with the tweet, the Congress president shared a video where PM Narendra Modi can be seen paying respects and touching feet of senior BJP leader L K Advani, whom Rahul Gandhi called the the mentor and 'guru' of PM Modi. The video then depicts PM Modi in 2018, where he moves past L K Advani without touching his feet.

"I shouldn't be saying this but I will. I feel bad for Advaniji... Everybody knows who is the guru and mentor of Modi -- L K Advani. But the Prime Minister doesn't accord respect to him even at official functions. It is me who follows protocol and I am always with him (Advani) during (such) events," Rahul Gandhi said during an address on Tuesday.

Following Rahul Gandhi's statement and tweet, BJP spokesperson Anil Baluni slammed him, saying that the Congress President was practising "the lowest form of politics". Baluni cited the Congress party's earlier vocal criticism against its senior leader Pranab Mukherjee for agreeing to attend an RSS event.

"He is violating our social and political norms. He does not even seem to know the kind of politics he is doing. The country is watching how the president of the oldest political party is behaving," Baluni was quoted as saying by PTI.
