Akhil Sheoran Wins Gold In Shooting World Cup, Takes India’s Tally To Nine Medals

Indian shooter Akhil Sheoran won gold in the men's 50m rifle-3 position event in the ISSF World Cup tournament at Guadalajara, Mexico on Saturday. This was India’s fourth gold medal in this World Cup and India sits at the top of the medals with a total of nine medals.

Sheoran scored 455.6 points in the final to pip Austria’s Bernhard Pickl in second place with 452. Hungary's Istvan Penney finished third with 442.3 points. 

Sheoran, thus, has become the fourth young Indian shooter to win a medal on ISSF World Cup debut.

Another Indian shooter Sanjeev Rajput got fourth with 430.9 points and Swapnil Kusale got sixth with 407.2 points. 

World No.1 French shooter Alexis Raynaud was ranked seventh with a total of 397.7 points in this competition.

Haryana's teen shooter Manu Bhaker performed well. She got the fifth position in the women's 25-meter pistol event. She had earlier won two gold medals in the Women's 10m Pistol and in 10m Pistol Mixed Team event respectively.

In the list of medalists of the ISSF World Cup tournament, India is at the top with four gold, one silver and four bronze medals.
