CWG 2018: Gold Rush As India Wins 4 Medals On Day 10

India boxers got the ball rolling on the tenth day of the Commonwealth Games 2018, as Mary Kom and Gaurav Solanki won Gold Medals in their respective categories on Saturday at Gold Coast.

Mary Kom, making her CWG debut, beat North Northern Ireland's Kristina O'Hara in the final of women’s 45-48 kg category, by a unanimous decision to add a CWG gold to her already illustrious medal cabinet. Mary Kom's medal cabinet already includes an Olympic bronze from London 2012 and five amateur world championship titles.

Despite a height advantage, O'Hara failed to make her longer reach count as Mary Kom came in close and kept connecting with her right hooks.

Meanwhile, Gaurav Solanki increased India’s gold medal tally at the Games, by beating Brendan Irvine of Northen Ireland. Solanki was on the attack from the word go, dominating the first two rounds against Irvine, before the Northern Irishman came back strongly in the final round.

Neeraj Chopra produced a season best to win men’s javelin throw event on Saturday. His effort of 86.47 meters makes him the first Indian to win a CWG Gold Medal in the javelin throw.

Earlier, shooter Sanjeev Rajput clinched Gold Medal in men’s 50m Rifle 3 positions as he shot a total of 454.5 to create a Commonwealth Games record on Saturday.
