England qualified to the FIFA World Cup semi-final after a 2-0 win over Sweden in their quarter-final clash on Saturday at Samara Arena. It was for the 1st time after 1990 that England managed to book a semi-final spot.

Headers from Dele Alli and Harry Maguire were enough for England to register a win over a determined Sweden team.

Harry Maguire opened the account for the English team in the 30th minute, with a slender 1-0 lead at halftime. Raheem Sterling had the best chance to double England's lead but the Swedish keeper kept his team in the game going in the halftime. Another header this time by Alli ensured England comfortable win.

The tournament's top scorer English striker Harry Kane was kept quiet. But England team found a new hero, the English Keeper Jordan Pickford who produced 3 amazing saves to record the Three Lion's first clean sheet at the Russia World Cup.

Sweden tried hard to come back into the match and would have succeeded if Pickford had not saved a header by Swedish Berg. The keeper also managed to save efforts from Viktor Claesson and that was all needed to crash Sweden's hopes to stay alive in the tournament.

Up next, the Three Lions will play Croatia in Semi-final clash on July 11 at Moscow's  Luzhniki Stadium.
