The professional tennis players Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic will mark their comeback in the game after a long break due to their respective injuries through Kooyong Classic which starts from Tuesday before playing in the Australian Open.

The professional tennis exhibition will feature five of the world's top 10, including ATP Finals runner-up and two-time Kooyong champion David Goffin, Austrian Dominic Thiem, Croat Marin Cilic and Spain's Pablo Carreno Busta this year.

Being the late additions, Nadal and Djokovic will be needed to play the practice matches due to tournament rules. The World number one will lock horns with France's Richard Gasquet on January 9, 2018, whereas Djokovic will face Thiem on Wednesday.

The Serbian tennis player has been out of game due to a right elbow problem for a long time which prompted him to quit Wimbledon in the quarter-finals. The addition of these two players have prompted the tournament's committee to alter the schedule accordingly.

"The addition of both Novak and Rafa changes our schedule and the way we will run the four days but that's what Kooyong is all about, we are here to help the players get ready for the Open," said tournament director Peter Johnston.

The second season of women's draw, introduced in the tournament in 2017 will feature new Hopman Cup champion Belinda Bencic of Switzerland, German Andrea Petkovic, Aussie teen Destanee Aiava and young Chinese star Wang Xinyu.
