Williams Sisters Collide, As Serena And Venus Take Each Other On In 3rd Round Of Indian Wells

One of the oldest rivalries of tennis will have a new chapter written on Monday; as Serena and Venus Williams are due to battle it out on the tennis court again in the third round of Indian Wells Open. The sisters have played each other 28 times before.

Serena who is making her comeback after giving birth to her daughter Olympia is the younger of the two Williams sisters. She also has the better record in head to head as she’s won 17 of the 28 encounters. Along with that, Serena is the most decorated tennis player in history.

Venus isn’t so far off from her younger sister, who in fact was the inspiration Serena needed to pursue this journey to greatness. Even though Venus’s tally of Grandslams is shadowed by Serena’s, she still has earned all the accolades needed to enter the tennis hall of fame in future.

It was in April of 1998 when the two Williams sisters first went against each other on a court, and Venus won that one with ease. Monday’s third round tie in Indian Wells Open will mark almost 20 years of this enigmatic battle of sisters, which generations have come to adulate.
