The Facebook-owned messaging application WhatsApp has been testing and rolling out various new features lately for the benefit of its users. The latest development suggests that the management is testing the "demote" feature, which will allow one group admin to reduce his fellow administrator to a normal participant.

Currently, in order to remove an administrator, his fellow his needed to remove him from the group before adding him back as a regular member. The new feature will allow the admin to demote his fellow without removing him from the group.

As per a WABetaInfo report, the new option will be available in the Group Info section as "Dismiss as admin" and will allow the admin to demote his fellow without removing him from the group. Reportedly, the feature is being tested for both the iOS and Android applications.

"At present, WhatsApp is developing this feature for iOS and it will be available soon for all users, instead for Android it is already enabled by default in the newest WhatsApp Google Play beta for Android 2.18.12," the report confirmed.

WhatsApp is currently looking forward to giving more power to the group admins through various options. Earlier, the news of the application allowing the group admin the authority to restrict other members from sending text messages, photographs, videos, GIFs, documents or voice messages was making headlines.

The application has already submitted the "Restricted Groups" setting via Google Play Beta Programme in the version 2.17.430 which will restrict other members from responding to group messages without the administrator's approval.
